Salad

Iceberg lettuce

It is one of the best known varieties and was called "iceberg" because of its resistance to cold. Round shaped leaves, very crisp and plump, green texture turning to lighter green nearer the heart It has a high water content and so is not rich in calories.

It contains many vitamins, which are found mainly in the outer leaves, such as vitamin C, A, E and folates, essential for the generation of red and white blood cells; mineral salts (magnesium, potassium and iron) and fibre. It is a vegetable very rich in nutrients.

Romaine lettuce

It is a variety of lettuce with crisp, elongated green leaves, and with heavily ridged leaves down its centre. It is known for its high content of water and small amounts of carbohydrates, the most abundant vitamin is the B1 or thiamine, B2 or riboflavin and folate, and to a lesser extent the pro -vitamin A (beta carotene) and C, the latter of the two having an antioxidant effect, the most featured minerals are potassium and magnesium.

Lollo Rosso

A lettuce variety of Italian origin. Notable for its pink and loose leaves, of a fine and tender texture, ranging from a reddish colour to a very deep, dark red. Its bitter taste contrasts with that of other lettuces. Its leaf has a high fibre content.

Thanks to some of its trace elements such as iron, zinc and copper, it is effective against anaemia and is noted for its content of anthocyanins, natural pigments that give the plant its red colour, these pigments have anti-tumour and anti-inflammatory effects.

Loolo Biondo

Just like the Lollo Rosso is a lettuce variety of Italian origin, its hues comprising from a green to lemon tone. Its leaves are wavy and have a smooth texture that makes it together with its sweet taste a very popular ingredient in many dishes.

It is a lettuce with a high fibre content, highlighted by the presence of trace elements such as iron, zinc, copper, and unlike the Lollo Rosso contains no anthocyanins.

Lactuca (Butterhead) Lettuce

Lettuce is a leafy vegetable and low-calorie (about 11 ckal ) , which represents a very high dietary and curative value.

It is rich in many vitamins, magnesium, calcium and potassium and choline. Due to the low-calorie content, and there is no cholesterol at all, regular use of this herb has a beneficial effect on lowering cholesterol in the blood;

Frisee Fine

These feathery, curly bitter salad leaves are a member of the chicory family and are also known as curly endive. The leaves range in colour from yellow-white to yellow-green.

Curly Parsley

Curly Parsley is an aromatic perennial plant to the family Apiaceae. Its pronged curly leaves have a pungent and slightly bitter flavor. The plant is extremely rich in nutrients.

According to the content of ascorbic acid, parsley is superior to many fruits and vegetables. According to the content of carotene, parsley is not inferior to carrots. The leaves also contain a lot of vitamin C (up to 290 mg).

Mangold

Right up to the beginning of the 20th century, mangold was an extremely popular vegetable before it was ousted by spinach and, rather unjustly, forgotten.

Nutritionally and from a health point of view, mangold is similar to spinach, except that mangold has a far more intensive flavour.

Spinach

Spinach is a green leafy vegetable that gives us vitamins, minerals and fiber, in addition to other substances very important to take care of our health, such as phytonutrients.

It has vegetable protein, a very low carbohydrate content and the fat is even lower. On the other hand, it has a high fiber content. Of the minerals of spinach we can highlight potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, iodine and selenium. The vitamins with the highest presence in spinach are vitamins C, E, A, carotenes, folic acid or B9, niacin or B3 and riboflavin or B2. Spinach has only 18 kcal per 100 grams..

Corn Salad

The corn salad is also known as lamb’s lettuce or songino and must be distinguished from valerian that is a perennial plant. This plant prefers dry and well drained soils to grow.

The colour of its leaf is green or dark green and its flavour is mild. It is used with other essences to prepare salads

Rocket (Rucola)

A strong, peppery leaf with jagged-edged indented leaves and a pleasant bite. Because of its strong flavour, a little goes a long way.

It is commonly used well with Mediterranean ingredients such as Parmesan cheese and pine nuts. Add to salads or hot pasta, serve with goat's cheese or use as a garnish.

Mix salad 

Our baby leaf lettuces are a mixture of young harvested individual leaves from a variety of different lettuces. The baby leaf lettuces can be mixed in various ratios from the individual crops available.

We currently have the following types for this special form of lettuce: Red and green Batavia lettuce, spinach and curly cale as well as the leaves of the so-called Asia Greens consisting of green Mizuna and green pak choi.
